LA....Lower Alabama, I think. The tinfoil confuses
Just a heads up that the Montgomery AGONIZER is very left leaning and the article shows how upset they are.:barf:

http://www.montgomeryadvertiser.com...riffs-businesses-still-opposed-measure-video-

"The Alabama Senate on Thursday passed controversial gun legislation that is adamantly opposed by law enforcement and business interests in the state that believe it could lead to more violence and an infringement on private property rights.
The bill, which now goes to the House of Representatives for consideration, would prevent employers from stopping employees from storing a firearm in a vehicle on company property, would allow people to have a free lifetime revocable permit to carry a pistol in their vehicle and would allow people to openly carry firearms in public places. It also would require sheriffs to issue or renew a permit within 30 days unless they can outline in writing why the permit should be rejected.
The proposal also would expand a deadly force law to allow those operating a business to use deadly force in self defense if an intruder enters the business.
“This is all about making sure law-abiding citizens can protect themselves and their families,” said Sen. Scott Beason, R-Gardendale, sponsor of the legislation. “I cannot do anything about criminals.”"

I guess New York-astan money doesn't work in the South.:D:D:D
Magpul ,Beretta, and anyone else is welcome to head South to a State where we would welcome them with "open arms":p:p:p

I want to point out to all the none NRA members that most of this bill has been proposed over the last few years in various bills. All of them have failed, obliviously, now they have piled them all into one and as a (I believe) direct result of NRA involvement it looks to have a berry good chance of passing all the way through.

There is also another thread going on this bill.

Hope it passes, that's a lot of ground won in one Bill. Residents VOICE YOUR SUPPORT now to your reps. Get on the phone, e-mail, hit their facebook page, whatever. And twist the arms of your friends and family to do the same.

is Alabama an "at will" state? how would this prevent you from getting fired even though the law says you can store a gun in your car on company property?

Steveno: if my understanding of this is correct, it can get you fired, but you will not be criminally liable. Also, if your employer is pernicious enough to hire and fire people at will like that, I doubt that's a company you want to stay with for the long term anyway.

I imagine at least 25% the vehicles at work have guns in them. It really isn't an issue, but it would be nice to have the law on our side as well.

AL politician (Democrat) was quoted in the local paper with a comment about Alabama turning into the "Wild Wild West".

Really anti-gunners, this is the best comment you can do, keep spewing out the same old arguments that are illogical anyway? Really???

I guess the "WWW" comment makes a good soundbite, in their own minds at least.

Anytime someone uses phrases like "Wild Wild West" or "Deer hunting with a 30 round mag" they show what fools they are.

Hopefully most people in Alabama are gun friendly enough to ignore those politicians, but I worry about the influx of people from other states that are bringing their anti-gun views with them.

rant over

:banghead:

I wouldn't be too quick to shower Alabama with praise yet. The rest of that article says AL law enforcement is against it. Hell that's reason enough to hope it passes.

While the libs cry tears of sorrow, I counter with my tears of joy.

key reason many sheriffs oppose it is it removes some of their option to arbitrarily infringe on people's rights protected in article 26 of the alabama constitution without due proccess. I sometimes wonder to what degree racism motivates their opposition.

These laws will cause no new problems however. States like Arizona have passed similar reforms with no attributable issues.

The people who are a problem don't follow these restrictions anyway.

I'm recently retired from the PD and looking to move from NJ to a free state. Alabama just made the short list!
