im in the market for a 1911. and i came across firestorm's 1911. does anybody know anything about this brand. or are most gi spec 1911s pretty much the same? im pretty new to guns so any help would be much apriciated.

They are about on the same level as a Llama. They have kind of a rough finish and would need a little work to function well. They're okay out of the box but a bit of work would help out tremendously. I don't believe all parts are interchangable, but someone could chime in and correct me. V

Ive had one for about 3 years or so now and couldn't be happier. Has never failed me with factory ammo, and only failures were stovepipes from a friends reloads, and then it was only 2-3. I is my 'weather/clothing permitting' carry gun. It has been plenty accurate for me for up to 25yds, and the finish looks just like the day I bought it. (FWIW, this gun has been fired AT LEAST 100 rds per range trip, close to 1 trip per week, for slightly over 3 years.) Mine is still as it came from the factory. no work ever done or needed. If I recall correctly, around 90-95% (dont remember the exact number anymore) of the parts are Colt 1911 interchangeable (as per Firestorm). They (the .45 acp 1911 Firestorm 'clones') are one of the few, if not only that are made by Llama, and not Bersa, and with all the 'Llama bashing' I have heard, either I got REALLY lucky, Llama chanded the QC towards the end of thier life, or the bashing is very much unfounded and prejudice based. Myself and my family trust our lives to mine regularly, and I feel 100% comfortable doing so. I'll also throw in that I have the "Duo-tone" finish, and it is very unique looking and looks GREAT. Just my .02 though. YMMV.

I had one a while back. I had the two tone model. I remember the fit and finish being pretty good on the outside. The inside was a little rough, but not bad. Most parts are interchangable, I was told, with other 1911's. Mine didn't shoot POA (couple inches low) and with fixed sights it became a problem I didn't want to deal with. I sold it after a couple of weeks. All in all not a bad pistol, but nothing I regret not keeping. I did keep one of the mags, and that does not work in my SA 1911.
