I made a leap that I swore I would never make. I bought a Belly Band Holster. I am a pretty big guy (horizontally, not so much vertically) and I always saw these things in the same light as those old girdles that fat guys wore to try and suck their beer bellies in. I have seen them around for a long time but just couldn't bring myself to try one.

Not only is it the most comfortable CC option I have tried, but it retains all of my smaller pistols with 100% confidence without the retention strap and it cost less than $20 shipped unlike my other holsters which range between $50-$100 or more. With the strap, I think I could carry most full size pistols like my 92fs or 5" springfield XD. I like how easy it is to carry extra mags or, in my case, one extra mag and a knife too.

The only downsides I see are that you do need a semi-loose fitting shirt that you probably don't want to tuck in and you will want to wear an undershirt or it scratches the crap out of your skin.

Here is the one I bought:

I am going to buy another one that has a slightly larger pouch for the pistol so that I can carry my larger guns without the retention strap.

It is always good to have options. On the rare occasion I wear a business suit, I carry with a belly band from Undertech. My brother carries in one made by Galco so I might buy one of those depending on how much I wear a suit in the next few years.

I have been in the military far too long and always feel the need to do a tight shirt tuck. Unfortunately for carrying that usually means the butt will print quite proudly, so I always have to remind myself to flair out my shirt a bit around the waist.

I always wanted to try one of these, but I tend to perspire like a pig when the temperatures go up.

I can't imagine a belly-band would be very comfortable in the summer. That's why I opt for an LCP in a pocket holster.

I have pocket carried off and on for a while myself. For the most part, it works out well. While I don't necessarily feel under-gunned with my LCR or even LCP, I have a lot more confidence with my 13 round Springfield or 17 Round 92fs, both with extra mags.

One other thing I forgot to mention is that it makes public restrooms a lot more convenient. You can take a leek and not need to use a private stall or juggle things around inconspicuously.

What are the chances you could wear that more down around your waist and use it for jogging, etc?

Very good. There are multiple comments out there on Amazon etc, where people do that. Most find that it works better pulled up higher around their chest though. I will have to give it a try. I am pretty fat but I do still run pretty frequently on a treadmill.

The belt band is what I consider to be the most versatile holster ever designed. Get a decent one and they are soft and won't scratch you. Get one worth good velcro too.

I use one for deep concealment. You can spin the band around in 360 degrees instead of being limited by belt loops with other holsters. I also use my belly band and a shoulder holster too. Hike that band up across your chest and you can position the gun underneath your armpit.
