I have to use a first focal plane, mildot/milirad adjustment scope at a range that I want to shoot. It is looking like $1000.00++ for their recommended scopes.

It is not a negotiable requirement.

Looking on line, I find some of these scopes at decent prices, but the payment methods at these places are not safe. The local retailers are straight msrp. Not doing that.

Any suggestions?

HOOfan, they shoot 1000yards. I guess their insurance, drop zone, common sense, jsjjekskksisiskwkwksksksksksks, dictate their rules.

Their rules are not negotiable. PERIOD.

They were very professional and polite when explaining this to me.

FYI, they are not offering to sell me a scope.

Me, I think they should offer scopes at msrp.

I shoot 1000 yards with my SFP scope without issue. That is a silly rule, I would find another range, if possible. FFP make it easier to range at any magnification, SFP at max magnification, otherwise I don't see a difference.

This^^^^

If they say the FFP rule is for safety, then they are oblivious.

But, I don't know what you mean by payment methods are not safe.

Are you in the US? Can you order from a US website? What do you consider a safe payment method?

When I go to checkout on a site that does not show a secured connection on my browser, I do not complete the order. We had some identity theft problems recently. The incidents happened within an hour or so of us ordering something on line.

Outlaw, I want a used st-10 @ $700 or so. Must be guaranteed and serial number available prior to sale. That should not be out of line. I have seen a few available, but they were gone fast. Hopefully nothing painted. One was painted, I passed. I kind of wish I jumped on that one.
