Shot my first IDPA match last night. I sucked, but it was fun.

Need to read up on the rules and learn the little things that matter. Learned some tactics for more accurate shooting, etc.

First run through was nerve racking for sure, my hands were shaking after, but it was awesome.

Anyone on the fence about trying IDPA, just do it. If you get involved with a casual group that will take you under their wing, you will have fun for sure.

my wife and I have been shooting IDPA about 6 months. It is awesome, there is no rush to get better, other than that little voice in your head.:what:

Each time there is a qualifier round scheduled, it has been called due to rain.:cuss::banghead:

IDPA, enjoy the journey, have fun, be safe, focus on accuracy.

be safe

Any recommendations where to get a decent IDPA vest?

There is a local maker here in Houston, but kind of pricey.

Any old fishing or hiking vest will do. Many folks use an oversized shirt. You just want to be sure it covers the gun and holster when your arms are held straight out to your sides.
I have a 511 vest and one made by Woolrich.

I have the Woolrich vest also. The 5.11 vest is also nice. I used a long button down shirt for the first few months back when I started years ago.

Armadillo Concealment? If I were to buy another vest specifically for IDPA, it'd be one of theirs. Good stuff, and made by those supporting the sport.

In addition to an oversized shirt, check out ebay or go to a thrift shop for a sport coat. Lots of killer deals on very good used sport coats.

Yes, Armadillo. Pricey though for a newb to the game. But that's what I will eventually buy. I always try to support local business, and one that supports the game as well.
