First Nebraska/Kansas Deer Combo

I was finally able to fill my Nebraska and Kansas Deer tags. Granted the Nebraska Mule Deer I shot was a spike buck with 6 inch length. The Kansas buck was just a button buck. But both will be great eaters. Not always about getting the big trophy. I am so happy. I have been trying to fill my Kansas tag for 3 years.

I have battled Kansas weather for 3 years hunting....this year was the worst. We had a big storm come in opening day that lasted three days. Wind, freezing rain, snow, ice...we had it all. Then the cold set in for the rest of the weekend. The second weekend was nothing but high winds. What a tough hunt.

Congratulations! Was it rifle or Muzzleloader, or Handgun?

HGUNHNTR...I use a remington 700 mountain gun in 30-06. I have been using the federal 150 grain core lockt to good effect. I have found that bullet combo is about as good as it gets. That is until I start my handloading this next year.

I tried bow hunting my first two Kansas hunts. I have found that I am not paitent or lucky enough to get a deer with a bow. I will stick to the firearm seasons.

Thought about using my 357 just to see if I can get it done with that old girl. Colt trooper mark 3.
