Last Saturday was opening day of
muzzleloader here, and I killed my very first deer then. I thought it was a doe but it turned out to be a one-antlered spike buck. He is great eating and I am thankful for the deer!!

Yesterday I killed my second deer and he is going to be on my wall! He is memorable as my first nice buck, and taken on my food plot of clover and winter rye that I worked hard on all summer. He has been on my camera virtually daily for 5 weeks now and I had called him Mr. Lobster for his distinctive right antler.

Load is 100 grains of triple7 pellets with a 300 grain SST. Both shot broadside at 55 yards. First deer was dead 15 yards from the spot where shot with no blood trail and massive internal damage. Second deer bullet went through lungs, left great blood trail for 60 yards.

Nice job. First day I ever deer hunted I got 213#, scored 147. Pure luck. Took lots of years before I got a better one.

Gave my best spot to my good friend 4 years ago. He got a 183 class opening day. Glad it was him. Something he will remember forever, and I got to be part of it.

Funny, the more time you spend and the more you learn the better you do.

That smile says it all! Great job. Looks like a very fun hunt.

Congrats. I, on the other hand, sat for ten hours yesterday only to have some dude's loose deer dog go barking and running right through my land - to include the patch of brush where I've mapping a nice buck for the better part of a month.

.......a whole new kind of mad.
