That last vid was this HP slug:

It made a 1" hole through 3 PC boards, 1 hard drive, and exited as a 2" hole in the power supply. :)

That PS had some .45ACP ball and 9mm Gold Dot +P holes too.

Yeah, the 930 certain begs the question, "WHY do most other semiautos cost two, three or even four times as much?"

Thanks for posting that. Nice to know someone likes their 930.

A lot more than they like an old power supply...

Shooting time Magazine just did a Test review of the Mossberg SPX in their Jan 2008 issue. They tested it at the Blackwater training facility in NC. It passed with flying colors on a two day course. The author only problems with the gun were, he would like to see a trimmer fore-end and a more close-quarters and body armor friendly LOP. He also won Top Gun with the new SPX in his training class.

I have one, it is excellent. The 870 Scattergun Tech sling plate mounts will fit the SPX if anyone is looking for a way to mount a sling on one. You may have to drill a small hole in the fore-end for the detent ball to recess into.

Hi guys, thanks for the friendly posts. This sure is a friendly neck of the forums it seems.

I have a lil range report on my 930 SPX. It failed to cycle/extract some light Winchester Universal bird shot load, the one in the red and silver box. The bolt didnt go back far enough so im pretty sure its because the load was just too wimpy. I dropped some Remington and Federal birdshot and it fired/cycled just fine. The Rem is prob the strongest of the 3 cheap birdshot loads.

Still, love this gun! I got alot of looks and questions at the range today. teehee. :)

EE, run some more Rem/Fed stuff through your Mossberg and then try the Winchester stuff again. Autos often need to smooth in a bit and then work with a wider spectrum of power levels.

If you want to, could one put a 28" regular 930 barrel on it, take of the mag extension and the rear sight and hunt for birds with it?

Winchester Xpert has a rep for sticking in chambers, does it on my 500 and a net friends 870. So, don't surprise me the Winchester loads didn't cycle. I shoot 'em in my Winchester 1400, though, and the 1 ounce high speed works well. 7/8 ounce doesn't seem to have enough steam.

I may get a camo 935 in the fairly near future, been wanting one. It's a LOT of gun for the money, just like the 500.

Hi jamz,

I suppose you could. Mossberg sells the 930 in 4 trims and 1 of them comes with both the 28" barrel and the 18.5". Sorry i cant be of much help. :D

I've put my 28" field barrel on my SPX and it worked fine.... There'd be no need to remove the extention to go hunting, you just have to make a longer magazine plug.... the rear LPA sight just has a thumbscrew to remove it.

Mossberg also sells an 18.5" / 28" combo;

In the spirit of thread resurrection, I really want one of these. Are there any up to date owner/range reports?

I bought a Mossberg 930 turkey model 24" barrel Blk. Syn. stocks Matte finish.

All I can say is it's an excellent shotgun !!! Mossberg engineers designed a good one this time and I would go up against any higher dollar brand anytime with it.

Mine only came with a Tukey choke so I bought the Imp.cld. Modified and Full choke.

I finaly found the one I wanted in July of 07 and tried it out Dove hunting in September.
It did a Good Job with the full choke !!!

When November came I was in the woods to try my hand for Squirrels and I was rewarded very well. I used the full choke.

Spring Turkey season came and went with out me even see'in a Turkey LOL
so I can't say how the gun did with the Turkey choke that came with it.

It's shoots straight and I had several box's of #1 3 " buckshot I ran through it with the Modified choke and it patterned excellent !!!

The only negative I found was in the woods it was LOUD !!! due to the short barrell and being ported.
In the open field it was the same as my 2 870's and model 1100.

This is an excellent mid range priced shotgun that I think will give many years of good service.
It never jammed and I had no problems what so ever.

It appears well made too ! I now need a 26" or 28'' barrel for it and then I'll be 100 % satisfied.

Lastly I bought this shotgun to be a Banger but after seeing and useing it I'll baby it till I die I like it that much...A.H
