first post and a important one, i need to add a bolt action fairly familiar with the major makers, remy, savage, weatherby, and i need a bolt action to round out my collection at less for now, i have decided on the round probably 30-06 its a classic round, and im a simple man, i want to use it for range/target shooting and hunting probably most game in north America , im not a rich man but i want a good/decent rifle capable of making good hits out to maybe 700 yards if that reasonable but is this achievable under 1000 dollars let me know im talking entire setup from scope to stock(which i prefer synthetic) let me know what you think thanks god bless hooah

Welcome to THR. :)

I can vouch for a Remington CDL in .30-06. you can get them New for $600-$750 Depending on Dealer. Many will say spend as much on a scope as on your rifle. I have a Bushnell Elite 3200 with a 3x9-40mm for hunting. It's a great setup not to heavy to carry around all day. The scope was around $200 from http://www.opticsplanet.com. also check out http://www.opticsgiant.com/ and http://www.discoveryoptics.com/

leopold, Bushnell, Nicon get teh best you can afford. You'll be wel served.

I would Reccomend the Remington 700P or VLS, available in Long, or short Action... i would suggest doing what i did, buying a used gun, rebarreling, accurizing, and getting ALOT of practice!

So you're gonna be shooting game animals out at 700 yards?????

That's a no-no in my book. :barf:

no, not game maybe punching paper (hopefully) at 700 to 1000 yards

and that's after a lot of practice as you all have stated and i truly understand trust me that's all, i doubt i would consider taking or making a clean kill at that range to many variables

savage 110 ? what type of optics, rings does it come with a synthetic stock

savage 110 ? what type of optics, rings does it come with a synthetic stock , get a separate stock choate/mcmillan

Google is your friend:
http://www.savagearms.com/centerfire_home.htm

You will be able to find a nice used Savage 110 for under $300 (I did)
it already had a base and rings. HOWEVER< you should spend 2X that on glass. (Or more)

Mcmillan stock is out of your package price range.

In all honesty, 1,000 is a LONG way.
The only thing I have ever shot over 500 is a Barrett.

I susgest you buy a good 110, and buy EXCELLENT glass. then shoot it till you need a new barrel. Then after rebarreling you might be ready for 1,000.

(No ill reflection on you.)

is 500 yards more realistic for basic range and maybe hunting out to about 2-350yard

that's sounds more achievable
