I live in NW Pennsylvania. My regular shooting spot is in a shale pit off a logging road. I have permission to shoot there. The upside is that its only 2 miles away and we can pretty much do what we want. The downsides are, the last half mile is up a logging road that doesn’t get plowed and most of it is up hill, and it’s outdoors, so weather matters.
Last outing was January 8. It was in the mid 30’s and windy
Since then it has rain, snowed, spit freezing rain or been below 25 degrees every weekend. We have had some beautiful week days, but not weekends when my buddy can join in.
Anyways was 70 on friday, 55 and raining on Saturday, colder that night, and Sunday morning saw rain mixed with flurries, dark clouds and wind. The forecast said that by 4:00 it would be clearing and dry....sure enough it was so we headed out
We have to being all our targets and stands since it isnt my land and has public access sometimes. Here was our range setup for the day. We had 2 target stands & 6 steel plates

The 2 rectangular plates are at 50 feet
Here is what we shot

I brought my 638, my 3 inch model 686 and my brand new,nickel plated 1981 model 36
My buddy brought his 638, 360j, 4 inch model 28 and his brand new, 1968, 2 inch, nickel plated model 15-3.
A shop in our area bought a large collection of mostly pre 1985 S&W revolvers. The all have the box, paperwork & tools. Most are unfired.
My buddy got a mint model 15 with box & all a couple months ago. I went over and got the model 36 with box & all. We don’t believe in safe queens. We suspect his 15 may have had 5 or 10 rounds through it as there was a very slight burn ring on the front of each charge hole. Mine had no sign of a burn ring. On stainless guns you can usually see a shadow on every other hole if its been factory fired only.
He shot 36 rounds, I shot 40, so now we know for sure our new guns have been shot. They probably will be shot again soe day, but not very often at all
Me with 36

He had to adjust a few clicks left ad then was right on. Mine was shooting bullseyes wit 148gr HBWC
The trigger on this model 36 is so nice. Easily a couple pounds less than either of my airweights, or my buddy’s airweights, and very slick feeling. It was great to break the dry spell

Sounds like a perfect day. Nice selection of guns and I think your wadcutter ammo is a good choice. Now that the weather is getting better you will be able to make more trips with your friend.

I'm taking my buddy to the range this Friday. He's 75 so I wanted to wait until the weather was better. It should be in the 80s so it's going to be nice.

Any day shooting revolvers is a good day. Looks like it was great fun.
Back in the 70s and 80s we would shoot at a couple of the local gravel pits and the pics remind me of that.

The last time I went for more than 2 weeks without shooting was 18 years ago while recovering from a kidney transplant.
