Yep I can already see in the future I’ll be needing another gun safe haha!

Take my advice and stop at four. Past four you run into trouble finding places to put them. Plus the resale value isn’t what it used to be or even a market right now. Everybody wants new not used so when you want to downsize you end up practically giving it away. You don’t want to end up stacking your nice rifles and shotguns like cord wood either but once you have the need for that third safe start trading instead of buying. Trust me. I know. Merry Christmas! :D

I'm already having trouble finding a safe to accommodate three revolvers and a semiauto. Got any recommendations?

So you mean stop at four gun safes? :)

We have four long guns and one handgun so far. I’ll probably end up with a couple more handguns and call it good, for now haha!

So far everything can fit in the safe just fine. I could get one more long gun in there, but beyond that I’d have to reconfigure the shelves snd stuff. A couple more handguns will easily fit in there.

Oh boy, youre asking a group of general car people if they prefer a Chevy Blazer or a Ford Explorer here.
I can give you my .02 on this...

Im a biased Smith and Wesson guy. I own a 586, Model 27, Model 28, Model 13, and a few others.
In caliber .38/.357 I believe they are the best that modest money can buy. Now- in 44 Magnum, I prefer Rugers, but thats another discussion altogether.

If you plan to use a lot of full power Ammunition such as maximum book handloads, Buffalo Bore, Underwood or others, you might find that the Ruger handles the recoil better and according to what ive read a lot on, the Rugers might be able to handle the abuse better. I have no comment on whether thats actually true or not. If i said so, i would just be spreading here-say. A lot of commentary seems to think that Rugers are stronger guns, and it is definitely possible that they are.

One last thing, Rugers used to come at a more modest price point than Smiths...... suddenly that seems they are priced closer together.

Like I said, this is a Ford vs Chevy question here.... Wait, Rugers are more like a Dodge....
Good luck with this one.

Yep, it does seem like retail prices are much closer between the brands than they were in the past. And with the pandemic, no dealer discounts off of MSRP on Rugers to compensate.

I have no clue how to reload. I just got into guns this past June, so I’m pretty green still. I just buy ammo online.

I like the idea of being able to shoot both .38 and .357. The 586 just looks awesome, such a nice looking gun.
I don't usually do this for you new guys, but just this once, I'm gonna have my buddy Lee set you up with his Classic Loader for 38 Special.

I like you, kid. I don't want to see you pay 200, 300, 400 bucks for your Classic Loader, so tell Lee that Pairof44sp from Thehighroad sent you and said to charge you $42.95 or so.

Act now and I'll have him throw in 357 at no extra charge.
