So my first rifle can will be going pending soon.

I've shot a few guns with suppressor on them, but never owned one.

Is there anything special I should know? Just some random questions rattling around my head:

1) What is the overall lifespan in terms of round count through these? It is a 762SDN-6 that will be shot on 16" 5.56 with Blackout, 11.5" 5.56 with muzzle brake mount, and eventually 9" 300 Blackout and probably 16" .308.

2) Is there any way for a gunsmith to confirm concentricity of the bore/mount/can prior to shooting?

3) What happens if it gets wet? Is this a serious rusting hazard on a rifle can that can't be dissassembled?

I'm sure I'll think of more as time goes on.

1: longer than your bbls lol*

2: easy way to check is to measure with calipers the thickness of the walls of the threaded section

another way is to put the can on the bbl and look down the chamber into the can if you see a perfect circle then you are good to go if you see an oval be wary and take it to a gunsmith to run on a lathe with a runout indicator

be wary of the mounts as well there are videos of the 18T and 51T mounts unscrewing when shot

3: if it gets wet shoot it and it will get dry lol

*unless you get it glowing red hot or do something stupid to make it pop off or get a baffle strike that pops out the side end cap strikes are easier to fix

Yes, I certainly have no intention of replicating the "glowing potato" pictures in the catalog.

When you say "be wary of the mounts", what does that mean exactly? I thought the ratchet system locks down to a tooth and is pretty secure?

One more question; one of the guns is an 11.5" BCM; which currently sports an H buffer... would it be advisable to go to an H2 with the can on?

this is what i mean be weary ive even heard from Mers himself that they are still working out the kinks in their mounts

the mk46 in the vid had a AAC 249 can which used the 51T mount

Silencerco even made a mount for the Saker can they came out with that solves the problem

There is more vids on youtube that show cans unscrewing themselves while shooting

I'd try it with what you've got first and only go heavier if gas is spitting back at you, or you have other issues when the can is attached.

maybe try a gas buster charging handle, if gas in the face is a problem.

BTW, your can should probably last longer than most of your guns will. most reputable can makers will warranty them if anything ever happens, so i wouldnt really be worried about it. That being said, AAC has been sketchy with their CS lately.
