I bought a remington 870 express shotgun
Someone tried to shorten the wooden stock it has cuts and the barrel has been sawed down to 18 inches from original 26 inches I paid $267 and around march I will get a new 18 inch home defense barrel because the barrel It has is modified or rem choke so I have to pay around 100$ for a new barrel around $30-$50 for a new stock and a mag extension to 7 rounds for 30$
So I will have to pay another $200 on the shotgun to get it where I want it
I think of it as a project gun.I can only shoot buckshot through it not slug.
I need a new 18 inch barrel to be able to shoot slugs and buckshot.
They had no other shotgun with 18 or 20 inch barrels but I made a dumb mistake but at least I got a remington 870 which I can change anytime.
It will be until march or so until I will have enough cash.
Good news the pump action works but I didnt pull the trigger but the guy at the shop said all his guns should work.
Can anyone give me a link where I can find out how to dissasemble the shotgun that I can get a new stock and fore end installed?
I am getting the shotgun tuesday. The action of the gun is fine its just aestetics which make me alittle mad.
Any advice or links where I can get cheap parts?

I paid $267

Can you return it? I paid less than that for my perfect, new-in-box Express.

A lot of what you want is on Remington's web site, including exploded views, etc.

All you need to to to disassemble it, though, is unscrew the cap on the end of the magazine, and punch out the 2 pins that hold in the trigger group.

OK ! Ya got reamed on that deal , but that's looking back.

If the barrel was cut make sure you have 18" of length from the bolt face to the end of the barrel. On a cut barrel you will have a cylinder bore with no choke, that does not mean it won't shoot slugs and/or buckshot OK. You should try it with a couple different brands. It may serve you just fine without replacing it. A "riot" type barrel will have IC choking which is not much .

For parts you might look on Ebay. Both barrels and stocks for the 870 are listed regularly there. The plain birch butt stock should be easy to find and under $20 (watch out for high shipping charges by some sellers). Barrels are also listed on Ebay on a regular basis.

A copy of the owners manual should be available from Remington as a downloadable feature on there web site. That will give you take down instructions.

Yeah I got ripped off abit today because
1.I am new to shotguns
2.I didnt pay attention
3.I was ignorant
Other than that the shotgun its self is fine and should work the way its supposed too
All I have to do Is make some relatively minor changes to stock, barrel, and fore end.It will cost me around $200 maybe less but its not end of the world I am sure many of you guys made mistakes like that.
I will make sure the shotgun has its firing pin and if the trigger works.

Well, looks like you learned a critical lesson in gun buying, AND you get to learn even more getting your 870 back to perfect working order to your specs. You'll learn a lot and gain some decent experience.

And you also learned where you won't be buying any more guns. And I wouldn't recommend spending $200 getting it back to stock, you can buy the whole shotgun at a pawnshop for that price.

It was my mistake
I still will get a 18 inch hd barrel for around $115
pistol grip $15 and verticle forend grip $20
then maybe a mag extender $30
I will get all of it soon
then the shotgun will be perfect.
