im in the market for a new shotgun barrel with removable chokes for my remington 870

i have a 28 or 30 inch one with removable chokes and an open choke 18 inch one but i would like a shorter barrel for weight issues and manuverability that has improved choke or removable chokes, i like hiking and i like to take my shotgun with me but the long barrel is very heavy compared to my 18 inch one and the length makes for a lot of snagging on limbs and such...

does anyone make a barrel thats like 18 to 22 inches with removable chokes or a set improved cylinder

Standard express and wingmaster barrels will fit your receiver. Remington makes what you are looking for.

I'm pretty sure you can use standard 3" chambered barrels on the super mag, just don't try to shoot 3.5" shells through them.

Remington makes, or used to make, a 23" turkey barrel for the super mag, but would not sell separately last time I checked.

You can find 21" turkey barrels designed for the 3" receivers pretty easily that take tubes. You don't see them very often but they also make a 20" slug barrel threaded for tubes, as well as a 20 slug barrel with a standard IC barrrel

The actual length on the 26" barrels is closer to 25" and is about as short as I'd want for a general purpose barrel. The 20-22" barrels are fine for turkey, deer, or self defense shooting, but not as good for wing shooting. The choke may be the same, but a little more length helps with the swing.

A little pricey, but you can get the "Light Contour" barrel for the 870 as well. In a 26" barrel it will shave 1/2 lb off the weight of the gun.

Several years ago I ran across a steal on a Wingmaster, but with a 30" barrel. Way too long for my uses. I spent $40 and had a gunsmith cut it to 24" and re-thread it for rem-chokes. Works great, but I doubt you could get that done for under $100 today.
