I finally got my first gun ever, a swiss K31, and was wondering if anyone could tell me how my shooting is. Using Wolf Gold full-metal jacket from a sitting postition, without a rest and standard iron sights, I hit the target with 8 out of my 12 shots and they all fell into a 4.5 inch group. It was also kind of windy. I really appreciate your advice and experience, and am completely in love with this gun.

Monoceros, how far were you from your target? Sounds pretty good to me, if you were 100 yards from your target. You will love your K31 - but watch out, they tend to multiply on you!:D

Monoceros, congrats on your first gun purchase buddy! Trust me, it won't be your last.

Keep at it, the gun collection will grow, and your shot groups will shrink.;)

Good shooting!

A fine rifle like that helps, but the rifle can't do it on its own.

After taking apart a 7.5 swiss round, I've determined that the "milsurp" stuff most folks are shooting is much closer to what an American would call match ammo. Enjoy shooting your rifle, I'd recommend you consider looking into reloading because the milsurp ammo is getting harder to find and those K31's need feeding!

You might also want to look into getting a .22 soon. That would allow you to shoot a lot more for a lot less cost, especially considering .22 ammo costs about $10 for a brick of 500 rounds.

But great choice as to first rifle, because I don't know how long the surplus K-31's are going to last at these prices. It is an excellent, very well made rifle.

I'm going to try to buy as many of these rifles as I can before they get expensive, but I should also get a .22 for the reasons stated. Hopefully AIM will get some GP11 so I can stock up, but until then I'll be saving my reloadable brass for hand loading.

Good shooting

Congrats on your new rifle. Keep up the good work and I bet that you can shrink thoes groups a little, but great shooting for your first time.
