First Snubbie

I have one. Probably less than a hundred rounds through it in 25 years. I rarely carry a piece that can be fired from inside a coat pocket, which is what they are better at than snubbies with more exposed hammers.

Shooting single action helps but be warned; once cocked lowering the hammer back can be mighty dangerous and could easily result in an ND. So consider where you are. You are correct to only use double action for defense, unless you are someplace where, if the threat is defused, you can just discharge the round without causing a ruckus rather than play a dangerous game.

Try holding your thumb lower or just get shooting gloves. They kick but not as much as my Titanium snubby.

We're it me, I would attack the cylinder release with sand paper or file (or both) until it was a more agreeable shape for interacting with my thumb. That's an awful lot of abuse, even considering a light gun firing full power ammo.

Well, today I bought a gun. One I've been eyeing since my very first THR post in october 2018. It's a S&W 638 (38+P). I've been back and forth about the shrouded hammer. It's ugly but I think I'll warm up to it; I don't want to snag stuff during my draw though which is why I chose what I did. View attachment 886895

Congrats on the new revolver!

I see you hunt micro moose, if the trophy over the fireplace mantel is any indicator.

So it comes with a longer screw to attach with? What keeps the clip from rotating?
Exactly. It comes with a longer screw that replaces one of the frame screws.

My only complaint is the “boing” tuning fork sound the clip makes when you fire it. Although for a business gun it makes no difference what sound it makes.

3.5 gr titegroup with a 158gr lead swc is what I like in my Taurus 605. I did a complete work up with titegroup from 3.2-3.8 gr in tenth gr increments recently with HSM 158 gr lead swc. 3.5-3.7 seems to be most accurate for me so I settled on 3.5gr because of less noticable recoil. They also shoot pretty good out of my 6 in GP 100.

I'll have to pick up so titegroup when I recoup some funds, haha. Right now the only powder I've got which I can find data for is 800-x so I might make some of those just to get me by for a bit.

A lot of mixed feeling's on the titegroup. It is very easy to double or triple charge some cases. Pay attention to what you are doing and work up slow.
