Well, this weekend I went to the gun show. Picked up a Ruger Mark III for some plinking and range fun. Yesterday, I went back to the show and picked up a new Glock 26 Gen 4 + an extra G19 mag. This gun will primarily be used as a CCW.

This morning I hit WallyWorld and picked up 100rds of Federal Champion ammo for the range. Hopefully, Ill go at lunch tomorrow and shoot this puppy.

So, I have a few questions

1. Looking for a nice concealable holster, a lot of people seem to like the CrossBreed line. So, I am looking at that so far. I also picked up a Rhino Holster. Not sure I like it though. What would you all recommend using for concealing?

2. Should I get a Laser or Night sights? Kinda torn... Not sure what brand would be best either. This would be my first set of night sights or a laser so help would be appreciated in making a decision.

3. Looking to add a Glock plug for that void next to the mag well. Any recommended brand?

4. Looking for either a larger mag extension +2 + pinky rest or just a simple pinky extension... Recommendations?

1. CrossBreed SuperTuck (based on trying many other IWB holsters).

2. No, neither (spend the money on ammo and range time instead).

3. Never worried about the "void" so no recommendations.

4. No personal recommendations for an extension either, but several people I know like the Pearce extensions.

I think night sights are important for any gun that will be used for carry--self-defense shootings will frequently occur in low light situations. I have Trijicons on all my Glocks.

Besides that, I keep my carry guns mainly stock, and use OEM parts for any mods I do. The only other change I have made is I changed out the serrated "target" trigger on my G19 (which is only there for import points) for a smooth G17 trigger.

I don't have mag extensions for my carry guns, but I would consider a pinky extension if I carried one of the subcompact Glocks. I don't think I would carry with a +2 extension in the gun--the grip is the hardest part to conceal, so I'd keep it as short as possible. Just get G17 mags to carry as your spares.

Stippled grip and frame, night sights. I want to get an extended mag release and slide stop as well as a grip plug.

Thanks guys picked up the following from a new gun store that opened on thursday near my office...

(1) Pearce Thumb Catch
(1) Pearce +2 Extension
(1) Pearce Plug for the void next to the mag well
(1) Pearce Sleeve for the G19 Mag I have so it doesn't feel so crappy in my hand.

I do think I want to get the G34 ext slide release bar as well.

Expect to get a few FTFs with Federal Champion.

Don't plug the magwell. The hole is there so you can rip out the magazine if it gets jammed.

Crossbreed super tuck is a great holster, I also have a holster store IWB holster. Great quality, good retention, and alot quicker to put on when you gotta get out the door quick. I picked up that 33 rounds mag too, just because you never know when in evil Jedi ninja monster is gonna try to Jack my dining room table...

I've shot a few hundred rounds of that dirty federal ammo, but never had a ftf. I have about 1500 rounds through my g19 since I got it in October and have yet to have a ftf, I've used wwb, federal and eagle... flawless weapon.

1. Everybody reccommends crossbreed for a reason. That being said, I know a guy who makes holsters just like the crossbreed and the mtac for $50 shipped. PM me for details and pics.

2. Pure preference. I hate glock factory sights. That's not to say they don't work, I'm just saying I don't like them. I like my heinie straight 8 slant pro night sights. They aren't neccessary, but I love the thinner front post and I consider it money well spent.

3. Never understood the plug. The hole is a debris channel, it is there for a reason and it doesn't cause any trouble other than looking like a hole.

4. Never understood grip extensions, either. Every extension I've shot with makes part of the magazine stick out as far a g19 magazine...so I'd rather just carry a g19 or just buy g19 mags to use at the range in the 26.

That's my 2 cents, YMMV.

- try a number of different holsters ( i like galco)
-ccw pistol w/ night sights? absolutely.. +1 Trijicon
-i dont find it a big deal but go for it
- ive heard issues can come from the +2 extensions, i would just get the pearce pinky extension

Thanks...

Got home, didn't like these:

(1) Pearce +2 Extension
(1) Pearce Plug for the void next to the mag well
(1) Pearce Sleeve for the G19 Mag I have so it doesn't feel so crappy in my hand.

Will be returning them tomorrow.

Not to be argumentative, but if you take the time to sight your weapon in a true self-defense scenario ... that may very well be the last time you use those sights ... or any sights. YMMV

Did you remove the sights completely from the gun since you will not be taking the time to sight your weapon in a true self defense situation during daylight shooting? Sounds pretty foolish doesn't it. You may or may not use your sights in a self defense situation but I want them there and I want to be able to use them if I need them.

Before spending money on stuff and taking it back why not shoot several hundred rounds out of it and then start thinking about making changes when you have a base of knowledge about what it might mean. When you order a meal you should not put salt on your food until after you taste it and probably not then. Gear is not as important as practice and experience.

2. I'd get night sights on any carry gun. I have a laser on mine but I would not get one until you have mastered iron sights and practice with both.

3 I don't understand why people buy plugs.

4 I either use the GAP floor plates or the factory +2 magazines. I'd also learn to shoot the gun stock. The whole pinky dangling thing is a non-issue to me.

Heard that argument a million times.

A good set of sights is a good investment. If you don't think you'll need them, then don't use them. Good sights are a good investment.
