I have always shot handloads in my Ruger Vaquero and Rossi Model 92 carbine. I had $40 in store credit at Gander Mountain, so I decided to try some factory ammo in the saddle-ring, big-loop Rossi. The ammunition is Hornady Leverevolution 225 grain FTX. I purchased two of the 20-round boxes. I wanted to sight-in and familiarize myself with one box and keep the other in the rifle's case for future use.
It only took a few shots to alter the Rossi from its 255 grain cast bullet zero to the new one.
I benched it at 50 yards seeking a group about an inch high (pictured below). Got there quickly.
That left me some of the first box for offhand shooting at 15 and 25 yards. Tickled with this offhand effort from 15 yards — three rounds:
I had one round left out of the first box, so I placed the rifle back on my bench set-up and looked through my .22's 18X scope for something to shoot at on the 100 yard berm. Someone had left what looked like a 16 or 20 oz Mountain Dew bottle on the 100 yard berm. I figured a hold of about 10 inches high with the .45 caliber rifle would make the bottle jump. Dang, it did just that! Concentrate on the base of the berm dead-center between the two target frames.
