We had a some tough going at work this year and I budgeted Christmas with no bonus check in mind. Well, ended up getting a nice little check after all. After boosting the present buying budget, there was still a little left over. Been eyeing a used 870 in .410 for a few months at a local shop. Well, now I'm eyeing it at home.
Got it home Thursday, took it down for a quick clean and lube, and soon realized I'm looking at a gun that probably hasn't been fired. Zero wear. No drag line in the lifter, no slide marks, no hint of a ring on the bolt face, etc. etc. Now I'm really feeling good about this purchase... Dates to March 2004, looks new, has the fancier engraving, nice blue, satin wood, choked mod, and I dig the retro butt plate.
Took it to the club on Friday and hit 95 (skeet) the first time out with it! It must have been "new gun-itis" because Saturday I struggled to hit 90 and my shuckin' arm was sore. Slides crisp and easy. Beautiful balance. Makes me want to go bunny hunting this winter.
Anyway, it is my first Wingmaster. I've had a couple 870 Expresses and currently own a M500, and an Ithaca M37. I've always been a huge fan of the M37 and still am, but hot dog, this little Wingmaster has really struck a chord. I'm hooked.
