Hi,
I would like to buy a 5-7, however, one of the best shops in the state(Jays sporting goods in Claire) didn't even know what they were. I am wondering, if anyone here is familiar with a GOOD shop in southeast Michigan, around the Flint area possibly? All of the shops within driving distances seem to have a 50% markup on anything of value.

25/20,

Have you tried Guns Galore in Fenton? They've always had anything I'm looking for in stock. They are very busy, and as a result some of the staff are occasionally less than pleasant, but the prices are worth the 45 mile drive for me. www.gunsgalore.biz

John,

I have only been there once, but they seemed nice to me, and they had the harpoon gun from Jaws(not same exact, just same martini action)there, so i was actually pretty impressed. Are they ok with doing transfers? That is what i hate, most shops around here will quote you an outrageous price on something. I just got quoted for 750 for an oly arms plinker!! if you think thats bad, if you're ever in Lapeer, go to the surplus store, and check out the lovely 800 dollar *&^)(#&*$$ century arms cetme's he has!! I also dont like dealing with Williams, I like shooting there, I just dont enjoy being ignored because im not over 40 years old.

so could I go into Guns Galore and have a flat fee for any ffl transfer? that has been my dream since i was 16, and i saw all the ppl on tfl talking about it, ha ha ha....

Gun galore is a good one to try or williams in flint either should be able to take care of you neither has the best customer service though

guns galore didnt seem interested in doing a transfer for me when i asked. i would avoid them on weekends as they are packed, which gets you crap service. check out www.mcrgo.org you might get better local info.

25/50,

I saw a FN 5.7 IOM at Target Sports in Royal Oak on Woodward when I was in last week. It's a bit of a drive, but if you really want one..

That being said, Wildalaska mentioned he had one for sale, at a cheaper price than Target Sports.

ok, sorry to hijack my own thread here, but what i REALLY need, is a shop that i can go into with the newest shotgun news, a pocketful of money, and be able to point to whatever i want and not get some BS price. At williams, my dad was quoted at around 700 for a dpms lo pro classic, which, at R Guns, seems to constantly be on sale for 599. Is this a normal markup?

BTW, where is target sports? i drove 100 miles to Claire just for fun, Royal Oak is no problem.

25/20,

Target Sports is in Royal Oak, at 13 Mile Road and Woodward. That's 3 miles (roughly) north of the 696 interchange with Woodward.

Wessels Gun Shop at 9 and Ryan. Good old fashion gun shop and great service. Bought my Bersa there. Had the hammer bobbed on my Undercover ($40.00). Had some work did on my 1911.

Been in business for 50 years at least. Use to be on Savanna and John R.

Will do FFL transfers without a hassle. So you can shop Gunbrokers and have it shipped to them for the paperwork.

Need more places like this.

In response to TennTucker: I'm terrible with directions, so let me just refer you to their website at www.gunsgalore.biz

In response to 25/20: Sorry, I don't have a clue about their prices/policies regarding transfers. Down the thread kumma said they didn't seem interested. I am not surprised to hear that, given the volume of business they do. If you are willing to make the trek, another of my favorite places is Michi-Gun in St. Clair Shores. They don't have a website that I'm aware of, so here is their address in case you'd like to plug it into a mapping site: 1516 Harper, St Clair Shores 48082 (586) 296-2360. They are in a small building so they don't stock nearly the selection of a Guns Galore, but I've never waited more than a few days when they order something for me, and the prices are good.

A fifteen percent markup is well below what any small retail business can thrive on. If it weren't for the compensatory higher markup on ammo and accessories, the only gun store left open in America right now would be Wal-Mart.

I had some guy in the shop the other day looking at a Hi-Point .380 who actually had the nerve to say "Wouldja throw in a free holster, box of bullets, and spare clip?" How much markup does he think there is in a $100 gun that I can sweeten the deal by throwing in $30 worth of merchandise? I'll bet he stands in front of the U-Scan-It at Kroger asking Robbie The Robot how much he really wants for that can of generic beans. "Would ya take 47 cents? How 'bout 45 cents cash?"

This country's gonna cheapskate itself to death one of these days.

you could also try wolverine gun shop down in brownstown for the transfer there prices are little higher on instock guns but i find the service to be pretty good down there.. Not sure anymore what they charge to transfer Firearms

Yup, it was said above, but I will reiterate. Go to Target Sports in Royal Oak on Woodward and about 121/2 mile, and ask for Ray. He had one yesterday.

TennTucker,
I've bought from the Gun Barn. They're nice folks to deal with. Prices are a tad bit high but every once in a while they get some really nice old ones in there.
Once they posted on their sign: "Raise your hand if you like the French. Raise both hands if you are French." *laugh*

I use B McDaniel's Inc. In South Lyon Michigan. It is owned by Joe McDaniel. They will do a ffl transfer for 25.00. They will even send the ffl to a private indivdual. i have bought guns from guys on the board in Texas, Connecticut and colorado. Joe sends then a copy of his ffl. I pay the 25 and Joe does the transfer. Also around my part of the world everyone knows joe to be a hell of a gunsmith.

your right about Joe i havent lived in south lyon in a long time and forgot he will do trasfers he is a great gun smith and so was his dad
