I couldn't find any previous post on this and it seems that folks have put the adjustable sight GP100 grips on their Alaskan. Has anyone put the fixed sight GP100 grips on their Alaskan? They are smaller overall than the ones that come on the adjustable sight GP100.

According to an On Target article Cylinder and Slide wants $89 to convert the adjustable sight GP100 grips into a format very similar to the fixed sight GP100 grips. I know that Ruger keeps these grips cataloged separately but I refuse to believe that the mechanism under the grips of the 2 types of GP100s is different.

Thanks, Adam

I just purchased a new 3" GP-100 with fixed sights and shorter grip. I am quite sure the peg frame is identical for all GP models. Since the Hogue models will fit the Alaskan & GP's, then the long and short grips should be interchangeable as well. I need to double-check this with Ruger, all I know for sure is the Hogue's fit either model of GP's.
The only thing that might make a difference, is where the screw goes through the grip? Ruger's online pics appear to show the screw farther down on the longer grip.

However, DHart has an archive from 2004 about my gun, and he wanted to get the short grip for his 4" adj. sight GP: he obviously thought they were identical. Hope this helps...

I'd go w/ the GP :D I recently picked up an Alaskan during one of my trips to the toy store  and it just didn't fit me right
