I ordered the grip for a fixed-sighted GP100 to place on my adjustable-sighted 4" gun, and got the grip for an sp101. Anybody know what I'm doing wrong? I called Ruger and spoke to them at length, and they told me they I was holding the correct part. It doesn't fit my gun! It doesn't even look right, the pin is way smaller and the grip won't even go on the frame. So, anyone know what part number to order to get what I need?
Or, is there a smaller grip available aftermarket for the GP100 for less than $60?
Thanks.
Steve.

Steveracer:

Try Hogue's Monogrip series. If that doesn't fit your hand, see if Pachmeyr Grips can serve your purposes.

I hope that this helps.

I have warned people in the past that the smaller Ruger grip might not fit. That said, sorry for your hassle. I don't know if Ruger makes such an animal for your adjustable-sight model.

As for the Hogues, they are a LARGER grip than the factory GP-100 grip. I've been using the Hogues for about a year but have recently reverted back to the regular factory grips.

I have small hands and I think the grip is just right. I have a Lady Smith 36 and the grip feels too small so I'll looking for something to replace it. My Rugers though, I keep the factory stock which I think works great.

This is strange. A GP100 should be a GP100. My 3 inch GP has the same grips that my .357 SP101 had from the factory. Are they doing something to the 3 inch GP100 frame to make it so that the SP101 grips fit? Ruger revolver grips have been the only factory grips that I've been completely satisfied with. Just about everything else needs new stocks.

The grips that came on my sp101 were more along the 2 finger variety.

I have a 3 inch gp100 and it is a 3 finger grip.

I looked at some of the adjustable sight gp100s and their grips were a good deal larger than what is on my 3 inch gp100.

I don't have the ability to take pics but you might see if ruger still shows a picture of a fixed sight model and an adjustable sight model so you can compare them.

My photoshop below...you should be able to get the grips at Ruger's website. If you were sent the Sp101 grips they sent you the wrong grip, but the GP100 compact grip utilizes the same grip insert as the SP.

I ordered mine from Lett. The fixed sight GP-100 grip is not the SP-101 grip, but it does accept the plastic or wood inserts for the SP-101. Ruger has no listing on their site for the smaller grip so I went with Lett who does, and also makes all Rugers grips by the way. I think the rubber part cost me $10.00 and I went fancy on inserts and I think they ran me $20.00. I personally like the feel of the smaller grip but the look of the larger one.
