Hey all I have a post ban Norinco SKS with a folding stock. It has the permanent fix to it, is it possible to change that out once it has been done. In my area we can have folding stocks on rifles, any incite would be great.

Sure you can. I have better control and accuracy with the original wood and it's the most economical. But that's just me.

I believe that it is illegal to modify your fixed folding stock so it folds.
The reason is that the SKS with folding stocks was banned from import by Bush executive order in 1989. BATF did not rule on it until Sep. or Nov. of 1990. So unless the SKS was imported prior to some date in 1990 it cannot legally have a folding stock as it would have created a non-importable rifle.

That is why yours has the folding stock permanently fixed.

There are ways around it if you add enough U.S. made parts to make it 922R compliant.
