Lead story on 11 PM news, we have hit the one million active mark, for the first time ever. Although two million permits have been issued in the past several years, "they didn't say how many", this is the first time that 1 million are active at the same time. Interviews with Port ST Lucie Gunsop owner and customers, attribute the 30% increase , month, by month, compared to last year, in Gun sales to 2 things. One being the statement made by our Commander and Chief, about a possible assault rifle ban, and the second is Home Defense.
So lets hear it for Florida, people are waking up and choosing to exercise their 2nd ammendment rights. Hopefully all states will have similar situations occur. Keep up the good work.

As I frequently tell people, if you remove roughly half of the state's 20-ish million population as being ineligible for licensing due to being under age or otherwise prohibited, you end up with maybe between 8.5 and 11 million people eligible. If one million are licensed (okay, we'll even take off 50,000 as possible non-Florida residents), that's somewhere in the neighborhood of ten percent of the eligible population. So, as I like to say, the next time you walk through the mall on a busy weekend, odds are that one in every ten adults you pass is licensed to carry, and better than one in three of them likely is actually carrying. Yet, you still escape with your life each and every time, right?

You guys can't compete with us down here in Florida. We have two advantages:

1 - Great reciprocity. It encourages people from states with crap reciprocity to get a FL CCW because it's better recognized.

2 - Miami. It encourages everyone to get a gun and carry it.

Say again? A municipality which encourages concealed carry?

Am I misreading this? Please amplify.

One million? That is roughly 5.25% of the population. Tennessee has less people, but about 5.8% of the population with permits.

Didn't have time, but there may be other states with higher percentages.

Being a Native Floridian, Seminole County son, the only place I hate more than Orlando is Miami. If you walk around at night without a gun you are a fool the way I see it. It's being regentrified but very slowly. You want to see worst go to West Palm. I'm an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor and in the last three years or so I've taught more than one hundred people. I've only slowed down because the property I could shoot on, the owner passed (he also had an FFL out of his home) and gun ranges don't like it to have other instructors poaching their potential customers.

I have to renew my certification in the next few weeks, maybe if I find someone with a property I'll get back to it to pay for my shooting. It's hard to take time off from being a lawyer.

Here in indiana you have the option for a 4 year permit or lifetime, I personally have the lifetime, how about other states? What options do they offer?

Vern, you beat me to it!

Just like Detroit encourages everyone to get a gun and carry it -- because only a fool would walk around Detroit unarmed.

I teach community college level English in Detroit. It is common for 2 or 3 students per class to be CCW/CPL holders, and I have prepared an e-mail handout for any others who express an interest.

I used to work in the Warrent Technical Center, and live in an apartment in Rochester, but kept my family in Virginia (owned a house there, and didn't want to spend more time in Detroit than I had to.) So I'd often go home for weekends. Coming into the Detroit area on a Sunday night, there's a tricky interchange that if you aren't watching carefully will leave you in downtown Detroit in a heartbeat.

At that time, Michigan recognized all other states' permits -- and man, was I glad to have a Virginia permit!!

I need to make it 1,000,001. I need to find someone who does the classes here in Panama City,

Try this location. After your classes you can go to Ft Walton to the Dept of Agriculture to do the paper work, finger prints and photo. Easy as pie

I loaded ATM machines in Miami, You don't want that job. My ex partner got into it when we got out of the gym business. After 10 years they finally hit him for 60 thousand a few weeks ago.He has almost 700 machines, I won't do it anymore.Talk about dangerous, How about doing 40 machines a day that take between 2-25 thousand dollars, the bank held 1 million dollars a day for him in 20's.
No security, fast and low keyed. But I warned him it had to happen sooner than later, thank god his new guy didn't get killed, He quit that day.
There are more gang bangers and crews working Miami than NY now, You don't stray off the main streets on South Beach, or you can find yoursef dead quick.
Jewlers and international money coming and going all the time. Even the security guys don't like it, they set up ambushes with 3 or 4 cars and auto weapons, all the time.
