If you look up Mozambiques flag, you'll see that it has an AK47 on it. I guess it speaks voulumes about that place.

Obviously, our flag doesn't have a firearm on it. But if it did, what should it be?

An M1 Garand?
A Colt Single Action?
An AR15?
A Remington 870?

In other words, what gun represents America?

What if other countries also started to add guns to their flags? What would those be?

^^^nice! I'd vote a musket of some type also. The reason Mozambique uses the AK is because it forged their independence, and the musket made ours...

Well, Great Britain could have an Enfield .303, or a Webley revolver. Or maybe James Bond's Walther PPK (not a British gun, but inextricably linked with a quintessentially British fictional hero).

If Rhodesia still existed, the FN-FAL would be a natural. My own interest in the FAL was inspired by that iconic image from the Rhodesian Army recruiting poster, showing an RLI troopie wielding his FAL, with the legend "Be a Man Among Men". Although some 35 countries have fielded the FAL as their main battle rifle, whenever I see one I think first of Rhodesia.

Germany's flag would of course depict a Luger. Israel's flag would of course depict an Uzi.

And the Mexican flag would depict a handgun tucked into a waistband, without a holster.

The Brown Bess .75 cal musket was the most common weapon in the War of Independence and so I would think it would be the one used for an American flag.

I agree with a musket for our own flag as it is a symbol of our freedom. Also, isn't the musket still used in one of the NRA logos?

If we are going to talk about guns on the Mexican flag, don't forget to have it bright chrome with gold accents.

I would say a Flintlock crossed with an M16.
Good lord, that sounds atrocious. Would the flintlock have a detachable magazine?

My vote is the greatest battle implement ever devised...the M1 Garand.
Although I do have to concede that a musket is probably more appropriate.

I think we should be a little more sensitive and display a symbol of peace on our flag. Something along the lines of a B-52 w/ the saying ‘peace through superior firepower’.:)

That would make Robin Olds laugh from his grave, but I like the way you think.
