Went out to the desert last night and to test a new flash hider on my AK-47. I started with just a normal thread protector nut. Load was Barnaul 125 grain 7.62x39mm FMJ ball. Soccer ball sized bright yellow muzzle bursts. Very impressive!

But in a defensive scenario, those huge flashes can give away the shooter’s position and can blind oneself in the dark. I have been hunting for a flash hider that wouldn’t add a ton of length or weight to the end of the rifle in order to keep the gun short and handy. I decided to order this AIMR flash hider from JMac Customs.

Looks cool but I was wondering how it worked. Well it worked amazing. I had no idea flash hiders worked so well but it took the huge flash down to a barely noticeable orange flicker. Super impressed. It also helps protect the muzzle nicely. Just thought I’d share.

Interesting. I wonder how they work? It doesn't look like those simple little things could make so much difference in the flash.

You bet they work! ;)

It’s amazing how those little pieces of metal can divert and deflect so much energy. :)

Stay safe.
