I have a Mossberg 590 for home defense. I'd like to mount a tactical LED flashlight to the shotty. As NorKs are thankfully in limited supply around my house, the gun's bayonet lug will not be used for its original purpose, and would be an ideal place to hang the flashlight.

However, I'm getting no love from Google, seller websites, or web boards. Does anyone have a suggested flashlight/ flashlight mount for the Mossberg? Preferably a low-cost, robust mount using the bayonet lug. I do not want to modify the gun by grinding off the lug.

I've heard of people using a barrel clamp mount and a Maglite flashlight for a low-cost solution. I haven't read anything that talked about mounting a flashlight with the bayonet lug. Barrel clamps are easily found on the web. ATI makes some. There are also a number of made-for-shotgun flashlights available. TacStar is one, Streamlight is another, but there are several others. None of them use the bayonet lug. You should be able to leave the bayonet lug on there and just not use it though. Flashlights can be mounted on the side if the lug interferes with them on the bottom.

One of the more elegant solutions would be something like what this guy did: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=317087. Being a tri-rail, the flashlight could be mounted on the left or right side, in addition to underneath.

Absolutely! He put together a sweet little system. And a great website, too - I've never seen better.

I'm looking for a seller of the Laserlyte tri-rail mount right now. A bayonet lug mount would be nicer, but only marginally so.
