I want to buy a replica flintlock pistol. A British Navy Sea Service or a Dragoon pistol. I'll probably only shoot it once a year but just think they're cool. So far the only ones I have seen for sale are the Indian-built guns from places like Loyalist Arms and Veterans Arms. Does one of these companies import higher quality models or are all the Indian black powder guns about the same quality wise? Also does anyone know of any non-Indian higher quality manufacturers that aren't super expensive? Thanks

Pedersoli makes a replica of the Model 1805 Harpers Ferry pistol. The problem is that it's in .58 caliber, and rifled.

They also came out with the correct .54 caliber smoothbore version. Alas, it was percussion.

I switched the locks and came up with a more authentic one. It wasn't cheap, though.

I would stay away from the Indian-built guns.

I have an Indian made replica of a British military flintlock. It has been reliable as far as ignition and accurate enough at 7 yards to consistently hit a man sized target. Workmanship is OK, not great. Worthy of your consideration.

yea as it was told to me by someone, they're all OK workmanship wise and if you are savy in minor gunsmithing, you won't have a problem. For shootability, not much different from a higher end Italian piece if that's all you're looking for.
The better quality repros are the ones made from kits that you do yourself, and these are very expensive.
Just understand if you get a Indian piece that it won't be totally historically accurate, and you have a decent shooter but you get what you pay for.
