This is a custom built on a no-longer- available kit. It is based on the Sea Service pistol 62 caliber. The builder frequently sells his very high quality flintlocks on Track of the Wolf but avoids having his name posted all over the place. The reason it is "based" on the Sea Service is that a non-standard but higher quality lock is substituted. About 25 hours.

The lock is well timed with a great deal of internal finish work so the trigger is very usable. All but one or two of the shots fired by three shooters today stayed within a spread of just over a foot at 50 feet and 20 yards.

the barrel was original with the kit. I don't know what lock he used but he liked it better than the "authentic" one supplied. The guy in the picture with the long muzzle flame owns the pistol and probably knows. He may have something to add if he is so inclined. I sent him this link.

It has a Ketland type lock. These video captures show the lock time is very fast. First frame shows frizzen in motion and embers in the pan--next frame it has fired. Taken with Nikon D 5100 in video mode.

That is a fabulous looking pistol! I would have it on display if it was mine.
