for ****s n gigs i like the idea of the "IX De Gendarmerie" makes me giggle like a little school girl... small .58cal ;)

The "Harpers Ferry" sounds a bit more sensible. its still .58 but this one has sights, or at least a front one... haha.

Dude, that little police pistol is the neatest thing! Is Pedersoli making that? Classic French...

Speaking of flintlocks has anybody ever seen a .177 cal muzzle loader rifle. I saw one at cabelas and it was the funniest little gun ive ever seen.

They're both pedersoli. other makers i should look at? I've seen chiappa ones advertised but they really don't have much of a positive rep with all their guns...

I have a Pedersoli Queen Anne .50 cal smoothbore ..no sights, a bit of a challenge to hit the target but a hoot to shoot. It is a surprise to me how reliable the flinter is once it is set up properly.

One cool thing about those guns? If all modern technology disappeared overnight, you could still find materials to load and shoot it with.

Its a Pedersoli.

It wasnt until Hocka Louis said "police" that i realised "gendarmarie" translates to "police" haha

and do you know what sucks? theres only one Pedersoli dealer in Aust... and he only carries 10 total pistols at a time including all his other makes. 2 month wait at least for an order :(

My custom flintlock pistol - 62 cal smoothbore. A hoot to shoot with 1 oz of #7.5 shot or a .60 prb.

That is an interesting lock. Roller on the feather spring (never noticed one of those before)? Thin channel-shaped pan and a shield between it and the cock, separate pan cover/frizzen stop (other than leaf spring). I'm sure I've seen elements like that before but don't know where (Dixon's probably) -- whose lock is that please?

I saw those .177 muzzleloaders too, I would get one if they weren't so expensive. Besides, if I want to shoot something that is .177 I will shoot my crossman quest. It's a good strong air rifle and would be quieter than a .177 blackpowder muzzleloading rifle.

That being said, I am planning to build a .177 caliber version that uses 209 shotgun primers with a flobert style action. My plan is to use a .177 lead BBs and I'm going to glue the little lead ball to the 209 primer to make a small cartridge. It will use an old Crossman 760 airgun barrel, so it will be a smoothbore. I figure I could even use a tiny charge of shot in it for killing small creatures that have infiltrated my perimeter.

I am also thinking about building a .22 or .25 smoothbore to use as a garden gun. Gophers will start making my yard look like crap with their mounds, I figure I gotta smack em' and stack em' with a tiny shotgun. I figure it will be good for me to pepper something once and a while too, it feels good to build something cool like that. Maybe I'll get to shoot em' with a little buck and ball load!
