Looking to buy some flip scope covers. I realize many people use them... but I am just now getting around to it.

It seems that Butler Creek makes a lot of them, but I look at reviews and they are very mixed. Their multi flex line looks to be the most... resented on many retail websites.

Any help as to what you think is the best would be helpful!

Edit: Also, if the size does not match exactly to your scope. Would you buy slightly larger, or slightly smaller sizes?

Nikon Buckmaster in question.

Objective O.D. 49.3 mm/1.94 in
Eyepiece O.D. 43 mm/ 1.69 in

Bought some (Butler Creek) and found out (2) things. One,they were a little small . Got the ones called for but was not satisfied. Two, They seemed to be under a little "stress" when installed and that led to the covers flipping up
at odd times. Liked the idea( keeping stuff off the front and back lens ) but, for me, they just didn`t work out.
Gave them to my son (he has the same scope)..........same problem.
Found an old lens cover set-up in my junk pile that fits. So much for "flip-ups." Lots of folks seem to use them but for me........ back to old school.

I have a set of Butler Creek flip-ups on a Nikon Buckmasters scope that work and fit great. They were already installed on the scope when I bought it.

flip ups

I have two scopes with them and while they fit well and function properly, I think they are an accessory I could do without. I'm a gun range person much more than a hunter, though. I was able to trim about 1/4 inch off of one of the covers to get it to fit better on the front of my 3-9X40 scope.

I have used them, and they work, but I prefer what I call the "bikini" rubber types. Just sling em on and off, no big deal.

I actually have come to prefer the Quake Bushwacker flip caps because they are easier to install and flip, but the Butler Creek caps are pretty good and available at most sporting goods stores (whereas the Quake ones are not).

:)

When I got some for my scope I couldn't find the perfect size so i went one size bigger. Then I took black electrical tape and went around the scope once, put cap over that. It fits perfect. I had to do it to the front and back ones.
Hope it helps
