Ok, I did a REAL dumba$$ thing. I bought Bushmaster flip-up sights and installed them on my new HK SL8. I was so excited to have the same "sight picture" on my rifles, I completely forgot one VERY important fact. The Bushmaster sights are designed for the AR, not a straight rail.

It wasn't until I couldn't even hit paper at the range when I realized what a stupid "novice" thing I had done. My excitement dissipated quickly.

So- what to do... Is there any way I can "fix" my problem (like a spacer for the rear sight?) Or am I just screwed? I guess I'll save them to use on one of my other AR uppers, but I REALLY wanted flip sights for my SL8!

Any advice? I'm kinda at a loss...

If I understand your problem, the front folding sight from Bushmaster sits too high on the front of your flat top since it was meant to be attached to a flat top gas block of the AR which normally sits lower than the flat top of the receiver. If this is the case there would be two options, as far as I can see.

You can get a new folding front that is lower than the Bushmaster. Knight's Armory makes one and Fulton Armory sells one (not sure put it could actually be the KA sight). Somewhat expensive. Much greater tham $100.

Or, you can try putting the rear sight on a riser to bring it up a little higher. This will raise your line of sight, though. Bushmaster and Fulton sell them for ~$15-$20. Not entirely sure if it will bring the rear up to the correct height. Might have to adjust the front sight post some.
