I have a Ruger SFAR in 308 with a 16” barrel. My scope is a Primary Arms GLX 1-6 Raptor. It shoots great but I do love the iron sights on my M1A, M1A Tanker, BRN-10, etc. Can fire a 20 round Mag at a 1 foot plate at 100 yards with 20 hits offhand with open sights. (Retired USMC and shot high expert).

What would be a good set of flip up sights to go on the rail without the scope? Want to keep the weight down. Was thinking about a set of Magpul Pro flip up sights. There is a Long Range rear sight. They are metal which is better than the first Mobis plastic sights.

Also was looking at Brownells and the AR 1-4 Retro optic sight like the old Colt surge is marked Colt……. $370 is pricey.

Thanks

Jim

I've installed Troy flip up BUIS on just about all my ARs, including AR308s. I've been very satisfied with them. They're rugged and robust. Shop around for best price.

(My other ARs are fitted with A.R.M.S. low profile flip up rear BUIS and a pinned A2 style front sight.)

I have Magpul Mbus 3 flip up sights on my Ruger SFAR. I found the front sight with it's elevation dial to be annoying - but maybe I'm not using it right. I was trying to turn it but maybe I'm supposed to pull up on it and turn it?

I actually prefer the older Magpul flip up sights that you use a nail or little screw driver on for adjusting elevation.

I too like irons and have been shooting with them since Army Boot Camp in 1993.
