Well, the flood here along the Missouri River is worse than the flood of 2011. If history repeats itself (and it will) there will be a lot of presses hit the market. The problem with this flood it hit within a week of the water rising where last time it took over a month to reach its peak.

The flood of 2011 I bought 9 LNL presses 1 Ammo-Plant 3 Presses with case feeders and 5 stand-alone presses.

You are going to find two different scenarios. The first is where the press was under water and the second is where they have been going down in the basement and noticed that the still have a press that they don't use and just want to get rid of it.

My suggestion if you buy a press from a flood-prone area go check it out. Cycle the press a few times. If it is not smooth it most likely underwater. If it is smooth run a few rounds through it. It may be out of time. If it will not make a round it is a paperweight (pay accordingly)

The way to check a press out that was underwater is to check the bottom of the index wheel. It should have no sign of rust then check out the primer punch it should have no rust in the threads or the punch its self.

Just be careful don't buy someone's problem.

With all do respect stuff like this are not that sensitive such as a car that was underwater. With that said I would use that as a bargaining opportunity to buy as cheap as possible. I would buy with out hesitation and get me a can of WD40 and spend a Saturday afternoon taking one apart.

You are correct. But I can tell that you know that you use the heavy end of the screwdriver to drive the nails in with. Some folks can't even time a brand new press.

I have a press on my bench that I got in 2011 that sat under water for 17 days and then he didn't look at it for 3 months. It was frozen solid. But after about 20 hours of work, I got it working as good as a brand new one. It took a torch and dry ice to get the primer punch out. I paid $50.00 for the press. You may have the mechanical and common sense to do this but many do not. Those are the ones I sent this warning out to.

Thoughts and prayers to all in the flood area.

We had a really bad one here in Colorado in 2013. I'm pretty high up so no issues other that damaged roads and, at the time, no flush toilets for 3 months. What happens here is we get underground water gushing up into new mountain springs. No damage to my house, but some day archaeologists in Central Colorado will find a LCT, among other things, and probably think it's some sort of nut cracker that the ancient people used.

That is exactly what we need thoughts and prayers. And they are welcomed.

flooding can be tough to deal with. i lost my house in 2011 destroyed the hole house. i lost my $40,000 + of tools most new snap-on in a $11,000 box. ost all my clothes all my childhood possessions. the town would not let use rebuild. a year latter it flooded again. the house was from 1890 and not in a flood zone. luckily my guns were at my dads house,

Been reading/hearing about this in the News.....terrible.....so much loss. Everyone needs to find a way to help....monetarily and/or otherwise. Prayer does help, to be sure, but God expects us to act as if we are His hands as well.
