Well, I sent off my LNL AP press because I was getting a lot of high primers as well as a few other on-going problems. Got the press back from Hornady a couple of days ago, and set it up this afternoon. The first thing that I noticed was that the press had a few chips in the paint, with one dime-sized damaged area on one of the corners being the most obvious. The shipping box was not damaged, so I got the feeling that someone at Hornady was pretty rough with my press... 
The good news is that the high primers problem seems to have been fixed. Loaded a couple of hundred rounds, checked every one, and no more high primers. They're not as recessed as the factory loads that I compared them to, but at least they're not sticking out anymore.
I decided to see if it seats large primers as well as the SPs that I used today.
Tried to unscrew the small primer punch assembly and noticed that it was really tight. You see where this is going, right? I kept unscrewing it and it started to feely spin in the subplate. When I finally got it out, I saw that the threads were damaged. Hoping that it was just the primer punch that was ruined when a Hornady technician cross threaded it, and not the subplate, I attempted to gently screw in a spare punch, but it would not go in more than a turn or so. When I took it back out, I saw the tiny silver slivers in its threads as well...
I'll post Hornady's response when I call them on Monday to see what they're going to do about the abominable waste of time that this L-N-L AP press has become.
At least I can use my Rock Chucker until I get a decent progressive press.
