Two on one

and they were armed, and he beat them up. What are the department's training and fitness standards?

But the judge granted a motion by Coffin's attorneys, Derek Byrd and Brett McIntosh, and acquitted John Coffin on five of six felony charges Tuesday morning.

So, he's still a felon (even having "served" only eight days), and the 'crime' in question was in response to an actual crime committed by the assailants?

Two things that strike me.

"I just ask that he doesn't get away with this," Brandau told the judge.

I hope tat Brandau and her partner don't get away with it and are disciplined or thrown in jail for assaulting the Coffins.

I want to see how much he can get in monetary compensation.

I wish that any monetary compensation they might receive would come from the offenders rather than our pocket book. Why do we have to pay to cover the butts of two law-breakers.

I don't understand how the officers could be wrong, as pointed out by the judge, and not brought up on charges for their illegal actions.

I wondered if the 8 days charge was a felony and apparently it is one of the third degree:
843.025 Depriving officer of means of protection or communication.--It is unlawful for any person to deprive a law enforcement officer as defined in s. 943.10(1), a correctional officer as defined in s. 943.10(2), or a correctional probation officer as defined in s. 943.10(3) of her or his weapon or radio or to otherwise deprive the officer of the means to defend herself or himself or summon assistance. Any person who violates this section is guilty of a felony of the third degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084.

So because these goons broke into his house and roughed up his wife, he now has an uphill battle to restore his right to vote, hold offfice, possess firearms and serve on juries.

Gee, this is wrong, for the homeowner to now be a felon due to wrongful actions of the government? If I heard my wife being attacked, I might well have run into the garage with a drawn gun and might well have used it on these morons. These LEOs should lose their LEO status the second they start breaking the law. No law abiding citizen should be forced to suffer being attacked on his own property and in his own home, and it's an outrage that he's being punished for responding to this illegal attack. Luckily for me the last interaction I had with an LEO was a speeding ticket 10 years ago and I intend to stay clean, but just, damn.

They are simply warriors. Our warriors.

No, they're not warriors either. Notice the key base word in the word "warrior" is war! These people are Police Officers. Ironically, they are often referred to as "Peace" Officers or whatever. It's the idea that they are somehow "at war" with the people they are to serve and protect that makes people fear and dislike cops. And this kind of comment perpetuates that. My friend who's in 1st Armor a warrior. These people aren't.

Noops
