Arrrgh. No, no, no, this is NOT bring you guns to work, despite what the idiots in the media call it. This is "keep a gun locked up in your car, if and only if you have a CWP" bill. CWP obviously has no connection with keeping a gun in your car, the requirement for a CWP was added as a poison pill by the business lobby which opposed this bill.
The bill is still a step in the right direction, but (unfortunately) it is NOT what all the antis are screaming about right now.
Yes, it is "a step in the right direction" - sorta.
The part that should make gun owners nervous is the fact that it takes an act of the Legislature to "grant the right". That is a reversal of the original idea that rights are vested in the people and it is the People who do the granting of rights to their government.
We have gone a long way down the dangerous road of allowing the government to believe we have no rights except those it "grants" us.
Aw crap. I haven't been able to read the full text of the HB that got sent to the governor, but apparently one of the places NOT protected by this bill would include hospitals (guess where I work).
