I think what he means is that pretty much ANYONE could have fluted the barrel. It's probably not a factory job or "high-end" gunsmith shop job. Meaning, it will be nearly impossible to tell who did it if it isn't marked. So, please try and tone down the sarcasm.
Sorry. Your original post made it sound like you thought that since the barrel was fluted, there was something special about it- and that the fluting would let you track down who made it.
Yes, mentioning the fact that it's fluted might help it stick in everyone's heads. Fluted barrels for the AR-10 platform grow on trees, not often you run across one meant for the AK platform.
As far as "something special" about the barrel, can't say I've ever seen another. Pretty darn special if ya ask me
Added "AK" to the title of the thread, hope this attracts those with knowledge on barrels. I've researched Parker-Hale to a certain extent with no luck.
Your title is a question. Since you stated you see a british proof mark but no manufactor I posted my response meaning almost anyone could have done it.
