Hello Everyone,

I am interested in building an FAL that is authentic in its appearance. Which type I have not decided yet, but there is one detail that escapes me.

I have found real FAL bayonets for sale, but cannot figure out how they attach to the rifle. My guess is that there is a special flash suppressor with the lug on it, but I am not sure.

Can anyone clear this up for me?

Is the method of attachment consistent for the different countries that used the rifle?

"...Is the method of attachment consistent for the different countries that used the rifle?..." Nope. It depends on where and when the rifle was made and the type of bayonet chosen by the using country. There are several different types. You're likely best to just pick the bayonet you like, at the price you want to pay and put on the lug assembly required.

i'll add 1 thing before you go buying....
the inch (knife-type) bayo (IMO) looks much better than the ubiquitous metric tube over the short combo device but they don't go on metric barrels readily as there's more to it than muzzle threads like a common (non-lugged) metric barrel.

a few pics for ya..

note recess in the bottom of the barrel for ring&pin arrangement[not pictured] which holds the hider in addition to the threads.
G1 lugged barrel...not intended for bayo use but the turks adapted bayos to them i think.
