LOOKING At an 70s Belgium FN Fal Match, price is 2775.00 what make these early rifles so expensive?

Its a FN!The orginal maker of the gun!Match models are even rarer! You are looking at the best of the best!Go to the fal files and read up!;) btw that seems like a good price!

I sold one fifteen years ago for $2000. If the one you're looking at is in excellent condition, it's still pretty cheap.

That is cool. Good luck with it. I've got an AR, M1A, Garand, a new Arsenal AK.....I might have to put one of those on the list.

Just the magazine. right side says made in belgium STEYR SECAUCUS NJ Left side says 308 match

Just like mine. Steyr was the importer.

Someone sold one 5 years ago for $3000 on the Falfiles forum.

type 50.0 barrel length (longest)

You might look around for some FN mags (metric), sling, front sight tool, and maybe a manual.

They are nice. Piece of history.

Coooooooool!

Tell us more about it! I looked on Google, but couldn't find much about them.

Art the sights different? Is the barrel heavier, free-floated? Is the chamber still military-style loose, or is it tighter than mil-spec?

Just Don't know, I got it fast with little research. My gun guy said he has only seen one come in the store in 20 years. I just know I like it

congrats on the nice find, i bet it'll be awesome!

confused though by your SN (USMC) vs your AF status/uniform?
lol

Nice find, and that's a good price.

One caution: Those are collectible. Don't change it by shortening the barrel, installing the DSA top cover that requires drilling into the receiver, etc. As long as the only mods you do can be switched back to original configuration you'll retain the value if you decide you want to sell it sometime in the future.

Just thought I'd mention it cause I know some guys like to start customizing any new rifle. If you want a FAL to customize and tweak to your heart's content, there are plenty of cheaper ones out there with no real collector value for that.

No won't drill it. I would like to put a red dot sight.

My user name is from my Marine Corps active duty 81-84. Now I am CT Air National Guard

If you really want rare, look for one of the guns sold by Browning USA and marked 'Browning Arms, Ogden Utah'. They came in both steel and the 'Lightning' model, with the lower receiver and action cover in aluminum alloy, as well as aluminum magazines. Which is the one I owned.

Which I sold years ago.

Idiot.

I feel your pain, about 21 years ago when we had our first daughter I had to sell my HK-91 I had purchased in the Marine Corps. This FAL take some of the pain away. and that HK was clumsy compared to this FN FAL

The DSA pic rail doesn't require drilling it bolts on AND that is the best of it's type on the market IMHO. That rifle deserves a decent optic as the NM part means it does MUCH better than any other FAL and I have seen them do MOA with Federal Match and a 6x scope. Those guns , big as they are are a 200 yard and OUT to at least 600 yard gun.
