FN or Canik

Again, I agree. But it is what it is here. It's the chicken or the egg type of a scenario. Do you order a few based on internet talk and reviews and hope they sell, or do you wait for requests for the product before ordering a couple? I'm not a business owner, so I wouldn't presume to tell them how they should handle it.

What will happen is if Canik gets in with Scheels and Cabela's, and folks start looking at them and showing an interest, then the LGS's will start carrying them here too since many folks look at the chain, and then seek a slightly better price at the LGS.

Customer service and product availability are local's biggest complaints in my area, in all regards.

Any shop that doesn't carry the TP9SA or TP9V2 needs to be educated.
I don't think I'd say those that don't carry Canik pistols are uneducated. I suspect they know about Canik pistols and merely choose not to carry them, probably for issues having to do with shelf space.

In the typical gun store, you'll have all the various sizes of Glocks, plus you have to add at least one each of the Gen 3 and Gen 4, then you'd probably need to add some with night sights and then those without. Heck, that's probably two cases of just Glock's. Next you have to have space for M&P's, XD's, SIG's, Beretta's, Ruger's, some CZ's, maybe a couple of makers of 1911's, some revolver space, and now you're probably out of shelf space in most gun stores. You haven't even got to HK, FN (which while relatively rare, is still more common than Canik), Taurus, Walther, etc., etc., etc.

If your local gun retailer sells Canik's good for them. If they don't, it's not because they need an education.

Both my TP9SA and TP9V2 were purchased on line and shipped to a gunshop for a transfer fee ($10 in my case). I don't think any of the shops in my area carry Canik pistols either, but that wouldn't keep me from paying a little extra and owning one.

Some online retailers like Buds will actually tell you what nearby FFL dealers are on file and provide you with an address and phone number so you can arrange for the transfer. 5 minutes on the phone, a transfer fee (shop around for the best deal) and a 2-3 days for shipping is all it takes.

I do think they would sell well if they were stocked though. Perhaps the word is getting out and they'll be a greater demand in the future. I cannot think of a single negative with either of my Caniks.

As an FFL, I can't see shelf space being a reason not to stock at least one Canik, especially considering their low cost. If you know about Canik and know that your local competitors don't stock them either, then I'd say that's a foolish business decision. You betcha I'll be the first dealer to catch onto hot new items before anyone else in my area. That keeps customers coming to me instead of other shops. Everyone carries Glocks, XDs, MPs, etc. The market is flooded and profits are low due to competition. I'd rather stock something new to the market that my competition may not know about yet as opposed to grinding it out with them on pricing for the same old guns that have been around for years and years.

My opinion is if a dealer knows about these guns and doesn't stock at least one, that's a foolish decision and if they don't know about them, then they should.

Century Arms is offering a $25.00 rebate on the TP9SA until October 15th and you can get the pistol for $290.00 - that makes for a pretty good bargain.

I shot a TP9SA two weeks ago. I ordered one a few days ago. I had sworn off any more striker fired guns until I shot it. They are very nice, very accurate, and very comfortable in the hand.

What sold me was that I could manipulate the mag release and the slide stop without adjusting my grip. That, and that trigger. Oh my, that trigger!!
