If you buy an FNP until August 31st, you also get a free Shooters Pack (holster, double mag pouch, and training barrel) from FNH USA.
http://www.fnhusa.com/le/promos/pdf/fn_shooterspack.pdf

I brought up the pdf file and FNH wants your dated receipt ( normal for offers of this type ) and a copy of the 4473. :what:

Why are they asking for a copy of the 4473 to send you a holster, a mag pouch and a 'training barrel' ?

I might be wrong, but isn't mailing the 4473 irrelevant? My understanding is that the importer/manufacturer of the firearm get's either a copy of it or name, address, serial number of the firearm for their records anyway. That's how LE tracked a firearm down - by calling the manufacturer/importer with the serial number and getting a name/address. Could be wrong, tho.

That's what I'm asking.

1) visit your local gun shop
2) buy a brand spankin' new FN-FNP
3) fill out the 4473 for the gun shop (which stays with the gun shop)
4) go home and enjoy your new pistol.

Not sure why FNHUSA is asking for a copy of the 4473, when they have no business with it for any reason I can think of. If they were giving a way a free gun ( like S&W was giving away Sigmas a while back ), they'd be asking for your receiving FFL holders info, not a 4473. They're not giving away guns here, though, just accessories.

nalioth, they get the 4473 info anyway. It does not matter whether or not you send them a copy for the rebate. The FFL sends buyer info to the manufacturer/importer of all guns. Again, I might be mistaken, but call you FFL and ask. I believe for all purchases of new firearms, the FFL sends some amount of 4473 info to the manufacturer/importer of the firearm.

Absolutely false. No information off the 4473 is given to the gun makers. Firearm manufacturers have no access to the 4473s. If Glock called me up and asked for any information off the 4473s I have on hand, I'd tell them to **** off.

Who cares it is not that nice a set anyway. If you have an issue with the policy give them a call.

I could care less about the swag, I was just wondering why they were asking for a copy of the 4473.

I prefer not to play phone tag with large corporations, but if I get bored, I might call them sometime.

I was basically wondering if any of you have encountered this situation before?

I have seen it before. It helps to prove the gun was transfered and you are the owner.
