Don't look to Brand as a guarantee. I've got a Kershaw that walks out of the lock if sawing thru cardboard, a Buck Strider that is the epitome of junk, and Gerbers that flatout broke.
On the other hand, I've got a Chinese Benchmade that has given excellent service, a Chinese Spyderco with even better fit and finish than CRKT, and Boker Plus knives that outcut most of the butter knives in the Boxmart case.
I've come to the conclusion that you have to check that actual knife regardless of origin and determine whether it has any utility value for you. Brand, schmand. Dark Ops is a Brand as much as William Henry - they could both put out a lemon, or that One Knife.
That's why you see nearly new knives for sale on forums.
