Last week there was a thread here about Arizona based Ammo Inc. donating ammunition to Ukraine that went off the rails and had to be closed. This weeks issue of The Epoch Times has an article stating that Ammo Inc has shipped 1,020,000 rounds of 7.62x39 to Ukraine and that Vista Outdoors has shipped 1 million rounds of small arms ammo as well. Not sure what small arms the Ukraine military has but I am assuming 9mm. Kudos to both companies for taking a stand for allowing people self determination.

The only problem I see is every AK I have seen on the news has been AK74s. Problem??
A dear friend of the family (who still resides in the Old Country), told me that most of the equipment that's being used is old soviet small arms, Makarovs, AKM's,74's,Krinks and Shrinks and all. So, I'm sure they'll be able to use the ammunition.

According to wiki, the AK74 is standard issue but they also have the AKM & AKMS, Zastava M70, and VZ58 and some RPKs all in 7.62x39 so hopefully those rounds get put to good use. They have quite a few 5.56x45m NATO weapons in their inventory too as well as a few 7.62x51mm NATO weapons Including M240s, Zbroyar Z-10 sniper rifles, and an "unknown quantity of Portuguese-made G3s". They also have Barret 50 cals and a Czech 50 cal sniper rifles. They're pretty well strapped.

Hope they get the supplies (military and otherwise) they desperately need... Equally certain I'm glad I'm not there (USARV, 101 Abn, 1971 - and I was not a shooter - just a REMF...). In the rear with the gear...

I'm not sure why the U.S. is pitching in with the ammo situation, we have our own shortage and granted we aren't having a war with Canada or Mexico trying to annex portions of the U.S. but doesn't Ukraine have massive stockpiles of small arms ammunition or have their supply depots been hit in strategic fashion necessitating ammunition imports of other countries? Just can't imagine that Ukraine would have any problem arming up on small arms/ammo.

Anybody else see a missed opportunity here, like maybe we shouldn't have just forfeited all the equipment we (JB) left in Afghanistan and instead temporarily parked it a couple thousand miles west in Ukraine. No act of war, just temporarily parking billions of dollars worth of military hardware at a friend's country for a lil while..... :D
