Local Arkansas newspapers have the article
Lonoke's plant on overdrive on ammo,
based on an interview with Vista Outdoor Chief Executive Officer Chris Metz, which focused on how the plant is pushing product out as fast as possible, but is trying to deal with managing employees under COVID restrictions.

Interesting items in the article:
"Remington's Lonoke facility now employs a little more than 1,000 people and is still looking for hundreds more workers. That's an increase of more than 200 workers since February and more than double November's count of around 450."
...
"Metz stressed that this cycle of heightened ammunition demand and shortages has been longer lasting than in years past, in part because of an estimated 10 million first-time gun buyers who entered the market over the past year or so.
"Annual background checks of firearms buyers are on track to break records yet again for 2021 with about 22.2 million through June, compared with about 19.2 million for the same period last year. In 2020, records were shattered, with 39.69 million total background checks, a 40% increase over 2019's previous record. While the FBI background-check figures don't represent the number of guns sold, they are generally used as indicators of firearms demand."

The article also talks about the business position of Vista.

Buying an existing brand/facility, ramping up production while only increasing costs minimally is a winning combo. Doing this while there is historic demand is a smart move. The only downside is the majority of ammo manufacturing is now in one company's control. This could lead to cost increases due to lack of serious domestic competition. Time will tell. These days it seems they are happy just selling as fast as it can be produced and distributed.

There is demand for workers in the gun industry all over the country.

Daniel Defense here, is among them. They have a long history of hiring like crazy in times like these and laying off like crazy when demand for guns and ammo settles down.

Nomreason to take a job with them if you ask me.
