I load your cowboy #9 (200gr RNFP) for 45 colt pistol and was wondering if I could use the same loads in my rifle for CAS without any adverse effects (leading, etc.)

Thanks, be placing another order soon!

I'm not answering for someone else, this is just my opinion as a reloader. That bullet has a hardness on 12 which is great for Cowboy action but many reloaders feel a bullet of that alloy shouldn't be pushed over 1,000 fps. I personally feel 1,200 fps is fine. Depending upon what powder and charge you use for the most part you will exceed 1,000 fps but not 1,200 fps so if the proper lube is used leading will be minimal if at all. If you build a round that generates ~700 fps in a revolver you should have no problems at all in a Carbine. (IMO of course)

Always nice to use the search function and actually find the answers to questions asked!

..and answered!

I didn't realize until just now that this was a forum post. I saw the PM earlier this afternoon and responded in the affirmative, relating my own experience with my trusty 1873 Evil Roy 5 1/2" .45 and my Marlin Cowboy carbine, the latter of which hangs gracefully over the mantle, right over a nice pewter Menorah. I had no idea that .45 LC cartridges would fit so nicely atop the 9 candle holders until I tried it. An instant reload, from G_D, as needed, plus it looks like a nice sculpture.

I'm currently using their 255gr semi-wad cutter in both a 45 revolver and my 454 Lever gun. Revolver is chrono'd at ~800fps+-, and the rifle at ~1000fps+-.

After putting the first 50 rounds of this reload through the lever gun, I inspected the bore today ... it looked like I had just cleaned it. No lead, no powder (I'm using green dot ... all I could get!), nothing.

So, my response would be fire away!

Now that gets my vote for Post of the Week. Talk about Divine Inspiration!
I might have to keep my eye out for a pewter Menorah to put on my mantle, and I'm not even Jewish (but I sure do love my 45LCs :)
