For the chrono killers

I signed up to be notified, but if it's $499, I'll pass.
That's a bit too rich for my blood.

My observation:

There ain't but 2 kinds of chronograph users...
1. Them that's shot theirs
2. Them that's gonna shoot theirs.

I'll admit, I'm in the first category.
Scoped rifles are the bane of a chronograph's existence.

Think of the police speed detector. Pulse Doppler measures the speed going away from or toward the "gun". The bullet doesn't pass the "gun", just the field of view and range of the emitter/radar gun..

Very accurate too. If it gets shot at, I hope you're wearing your vest or behind hard cover. :)

This thread is worthless without pics. :)

And... to the OP.. "damn, that gadget is cool as heck."

The Magnetospeed possibly could be used on long barrel revolvers or single shot handguns. Semi-autos not so much.

I have only shot jacket bullets over mine. The company says that it will read cast bullets but I have not tried any.

The Magnetospeed chronograph "sees" the bullet alot more reliably for me than chronographs with optical sensors.

I don't like anything touching the gun while I'm doing work ups.

The magneto speed is more accurate, but I prefer to not have anything interfere with my normal shooting.

I'm really excited about the labradar, plan to have one of the first ones sold.

The labradar is probably more practical at the end of the day, but for certain indoor ranges, the MagnetoSpeed would be hard to beat.

Is there a concern with "really big guns" with that magneto speed thingy? E.g. 50 BMG? :)

I'd like a universal one like that labradar but never could find anything really suitable from handgun through 50 BMG. Traditional chronographs are tricky with heavy hitting guns. First and only time I ever used it with a 50 BMG the tripod and chronograph took an unfortunate trip sideways, and the concussion knocked the faceplate clean off the thing.

Naw, where's the fun in not seeing your crony flip up into the air and seeing small metal parts flying everywhere? For $500 I could buy a couple others and have the enjoyment of blowing a couple up too!
