Just bought another NIB Interarms PPK in .380 auto. Have had several of these and everyone worked as planned Accuracy and reliability next to none! I'll pack it with Winchester Silver Tips. Cause it's made of stainless steel.

Depending upon the evening's clothing, one or the other works just fine.

But if you ask me, the Colt Mustang is probably the finest little mouse-gun ever made with respect to materials, fit and finish. Particularly if you're a 1911 worshiper. Same ergonomics, same controls, same single action trigger group ... best if carried cocked and locked.

PS: It would seem, based upon the faculty lounge ballisticians, that a fast hardball is a better choice in the .380 SD round.

Sig 238 or Colt gov 380 or Beretta 84F with Rem 102 grn golden sabers.

My choice depends on the clothes that I intend to wear and ease that I can properly conceal the gun. Rem 102's work 100% in all the guns and are easy to obtain locally so I avoid the mail order issue when I need fresh stock.

When I go out to more of where I perceive there might be a real risk (mall, dinner etc) I move up to a 9mm PSP or an EMP.

NAA Guardian, Buffalo Bore standard pressure 100gr in the pipe, Fiocchi 95gr in the mag. Same setup (diff gr obviously) as my P-32.

interesting concept with the removable cylinder. Not sure it will catch on. got hand it to them for trying something new.

For those who carry .380 ACP

Sig P238 .380 loaded with 7 rounds of Hornady CD HP. I'm concerned with over-penetration of FMJ's after seeing a test of Winchester 90 gr FMJ FP.
At sd distance round penetrated 4 layers of Levi type material, 19 inches of gel and a couple water jugs. Hornady CD 90 gr. HP, same test...through the 4 layers of Levi material, good, complete mushroom and stopped at the 18 to 19 inch gel mark. I don't think I need any more penetration than that. Just my 2 cents worth.

My primary carry consists of Glocks: G19, G26, G23, G27, G30sf. Or my favorite large gun a R.I.A. Tact. 1911 or Kimber Gold Match SE II SE 1911 loaded with 185gr Hornady XTP HP. I still like having the P238 in my front pocket in a Galco pocket holster...locked and cocked. ;)

Using "over penetration" as an argument for jhp over fmj is a none starter for me. If you ever have to actually pull that trigger to defend yourself, regurdless what type of ammo your using your rolling the dice that it will work out good for you.

A few years ago there was a police shoot out here in Phoenix where the police fired 87 rounds at a BG and only hit him 11 times. I don't care how good a shot you are, when your in a stressful siduation with things are happening quickly there are going to be misses and the type of ammo won't make any difference if you miss your target and hit a bystander.

The way I see it is I want to be sure my round can reach a vital organ and I certainly would not shoot if there was someone behind a BG, regardless of the type of ammo I was using.

If over penetration is a concern you better not ever use a 9mm or a 40cal.

I would also be more worried about misses than over penetration.

Something was off with that test.

IMO, there is no 380 cartridge in existence that causes a 90gr .355 diameter hollow point bullet to penetrate 18" of properly formulated and mixed ordnance gelatin - not out of a .380 shell, not even +P loadings.

The tests I've seen for Hornady Critical Defense have the round penetrating to around 10" - maybe 11" IIRC.
