I carry a Glock 23 or 27 in an IWB holster. I barely know it's there. The 27 goes with everything and I like the small size. Home defense guns are 357s and a 45 1911.

I would like to get another pistol. Why? Because I want to. I am torn between 2 pistols of opposite ends of the spectrum: the Sig P238 380 ACP and the Glock 30 45 ACP.

Both are accurate and fun to shoot. Both can be concealed. The 238 would be a "fun gun" and for deep concealment. The 30 would be a "fun gun" and would be better for carry during the fall and winter.

Accuracy would be about the same. Availability of ammo is better for the 45 but 380 ammo prices are starting to fall. One is a very effective caliber for self defense an one serves as minimal for self defense.

I would be the sole user for this pistol. Seeing what I have, what would you get?

A mousegun or the 45?

Seeing as you have Glocks for every occasion, I think it matters more what you want to buy and quit trying to rationalize it as a specific carry gun. If you want another Glock *yawn* go ahead and get the .45, I would personally opt for a little diversity and go with the Sig. :)

Since you already have a .45 I'd be tempted to get the Sig. Mine is the best shooting .380 I've tried. The Diamondback DB380 was next followed by the LCP. It is a fun gun to shoot. I can't say that about the other .380s.

The Glock 30, to me, has no character. I didn't like the grip and got the 21SF instead, which was a good, reliable shooter but not really a "fun" gun.

I can't comment on the SIG, because I have never shot one.

But I do carry a glock 30 on occasion, and I love it. Keep in mind though, that it may be just a little more difficult to conceal than your 23. I believe that it does have character. It's a little workhorse for sure. Accurate, dependable, simple to operate, more than adequate capacity and firepower... but you knew all that already, you have two glocks!

anything in .45 over a .380. That is the one caliber I will probably never purchase. I shot my Defender for the first time today and can't recommend it enough. Definitely one of the better purchases I've made.

The Defender is a great gun, but it's also a few hundred give or take more than the other two. BUT, if the OP is going to spend that much I also highly recommend it. The STI Shadow is another great choice in 3" 1911s.

I still have to go with the Sig out of the two listed. Yes, the .380 is a small round but it's easy to conceal and makes a good BUG or jogging gun.

If you are comtemplating the 230 because of size there really isn't much difference between the 230 and the 27 when it comes to carrying unless you are trying to put them in a specific size box.

Thank you for the input. I was in turmoil between these two guns for price.

I am choosing the 45 ACP G30. If I get a 380, I will get a Ruger LCP or a DB380.
