For those who seat and crimp with seperate dies

So, we have a cartridge with fifty pounds of seating force, and one with one hundred. How do we fix the one with too much? How would we fix one with too little?
I made a post in seating bullets, I seated bullets in a 7MM57 that exceeded the ability of all my bullet pullers, I did remove 2 but in the effort I rendered the bullets scrap. And then the post disappeared. I included the story about the biggest dear taken in Alabama; there were 4, three were taken by one shooter with a 7MM57. It is difficult to compete for attention, I have no reason to out-do anyone. And I added a short paragraph on increasing bullet hold.

That’s nice.:)

Now, how do I fix a neck that shows too much tension, or at least a different tension then the others? How do I increase the bullet hold?

Purchase a tension gage and then try to measure tension with it.

There no such thing as too much bullet hold, I like the number 45 pounds, to get above 45 pounds a reloader has to know what he is doing.

I thought you said there weren’t any tension gauges?

I said I have a tension gage, and then I said my tension gage did not measure tension, I said my tension gage was marked off in pounds, I said there was no conversion for tensions to pounds. I said there is a hydraulic bullet seating press. I said if they could find a gage that measured tensions they would have used it on the press; instead they used a gage that measures in pounds with no way to measure tensions.

I have deviation gages, they are marked off in thousandths and in pounds; there are a few users of the tool that call the tool a tension gage. No matter what when they finish using the tool the results is in pounds.

I understand it is cool to use tensions, it is a lazy way; interference fit, crush fit, a lot of tension, just enough tension to hold the bullet long enough to chamber the round and then there is the king Kong fit.

I use the pound fit, occasionally I see read where a reloaders has started using grip as in bullet grip, I am sure if I had a bullet grip gage it would be marked off in pounds. It would sound so awkward to use bullet grip in pounds.
